Professional Background
Has been engaged in the private practice of law since becoming licensed in Texas in December 1995 and is a Partner and Vice President in the law firm of Ramirez & Associates, P.C., with offices in Dallas and Mexico City, and is the Managing Partner of Ramirez & Associates de México, S.C., the Firm’s Mexico City office.
Principal Areas of Practice
- Business Related Immigration
Directs the Firm’s immigration practice; advises U.S. employers hiring foreign nationals for professional and technical positions, foreign national investors, and international business entities hiring foreign intra-company executive, managerial and professional transferees. Counsels U.S. employers on compliance with federal immigration statutes and regulations, and record-keeping requirements. Advises on Employment Verification compliance as mandated by federal and Texas state law. Also directs the Firm’s practice representing U.S. employers with their recruitment efforts abroad.
- International Transactions and Corporate Issues
Counsels on all aspects of doing business abroad, focusing in Latin America, including recruitment of foreign nationals abroad, establishment of U.S.-owned business entities, related labor issues, cross-border transactions, distributorships and marketing relationships, foreign investment reporting requirements, joint ventures and other international commercial matters.
- As managing partner for the Firm’s Mexico City office, manages that Firm’s work on immigration, domestic and international transactions, intellectual property and corporate matters.
